Short version: the Easton Ghost is three bats now, and they suit different hitters. The Ghost Advanced is the two-piece: the softest feel, the least sting, the forgiving choice for most players. The Ghost Unlimited is the one-piece: stiffer, more direct, with the longest barrel Easton has put on a Ghost, for hitters who want maximum barrel and don't mind feeling their mishits. The Ghost OG is the balanced two-piece classic at $449.99, $50 less than the other two. If you're not sure, the Advanced is the safe pick. If your hitter squares the ball up and wants more, the Unlimited. If you want Ghost sound and pop without the top price, the OG.
Updated October 2026: added the limited-edition Ghost Unlimited Era Wild One, releasing October 22.

Ghost Advanced: the two-piece, for most hitters
This is the bat people mean when they say "the Ghost." Two-piece composite, Double Barrel 3 construction, Easton's Sonic Comp Max composite, and the ConneXion Evolution joint between handle and barrel that soaks up vibration. It's soft on contact, quick through the zone, and it barely stings on a mishit, which matters more than any spec sheet for a 12-year-old in April.
The -11 and -10 are balanced; the -9 and -8 carry more weight toward the end for stronger hitters. It comes in the standard red and, in some years, special editions like the Spring Break colors. One caution on those: the yellow Spring Break Advanced is not approved for college play, so a high school senior headed to a program should stay with the standard colorway.
Best for: contact and gap hitters, younger players, anyone whose hands hurt on a one-piece, and anyone who isn't sure. Shop -11, -10, -9, -8.
Ghost Unlimited: the one-piece, for the hitter who wants more barrel
The Unlimited is the only one-piece in the Ghost family. No connection joint, so the feel is stiffer and more direct: you know exactly where you hit the ball. In exchange, Easton gives it the Double Barrel EXT, an inch longer than the Advanced's barrel, with an internal VRS-1 connection between the inner and outer barrel that trims weight so the extra length doesn't swing heavy. The handle stiffness is also tuned per size: softer on the short, light drops, stiffer on the long, heavy ones.
The result is more hitting surface and a very connected swing. The trade is feedback: mishits sting more than on the Advanced. For a hitter who squares the ball up consistently, that's a fair trade. For one who's still learning to, it isn't.
Best for: power hitters with a repeatable swing, slap hitters who want every inch of plate coverage, and players who prefer one-piece feel. Shop -11, -10, -9, -8.
New: Ghost Unlimited Era Wild One (releases October 22, 2026)
The Ghost Unlimited Era Wild One is the Unlimited in a limited-edition "Wild" graphics package. Underneath it is the same bat: one-piece Sonic Comp Max composite, Double Barrel EXT, VRS-1 internal connection, Power Boost soft knob and the thin 29/32" handle. Same $499.99, same USA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and WBSC stamps. It comes in -10 (30"–34") and -11 (29"–32"). Buy it for the look; everything in the Unlimited section above applies. As with any special-edition Ghost, check the product page before buying for a college program.
Ghost OG: the classic, for $50 less
The 2027 Ghost OG is Easton's return to the original Ghost recipe: two-piece, Double Barrel, the earlier Sonic Comp composite, the ConneXion+ joint, and a balanced swing weight in every drop. It doesn't have the Advanced's newer composite, Double Barrel 3 or the soft knob, and it's not certified for NCAA play. What it has is the Ghost sound, the Ghost pop, a forgiving feel, and a $449.99 price.
The 2025 Rainbow Sherbet OG, in -11 and -10, is the same idea in a special colorway, on closeout at $349.99 while it lasts.
Best for: players moving up to their first high-end composite, families who want a Ghost without the top price, and anyone who wants a balanced bat across every drop. Shop -11, -10, -9, -8.
How to choose
- Ask about sting first. If your hitter has ever complained about her hands, or is under 13, take the Advanced or the OG. The Unlimited's directness is a feature only for a player who wants it.
- Then the drop. Most players 12 and up swing a -10. Younger or smaller hitters take the -11. The -9 and -8 are for strong high school and college hitters who want mass, and on the Advanced and Unlimited those drops are loaded rather than balanced. See the drop weight guide for length and weight by height.
- Then the price. The Advanced and Unlimited are $499.99. The OG gives up the newest composite and the soft knob for $50 less, and for many hitters the difference won't show up in the box score.
- College players: the standard Advanced and Unlimited are NCAA-approved. The OG and the yellow Spring Break Advanced are not.
Comparing across brands? The Ghost Advanced lines up against the Louisville Slugger Kryo2 and the Marucci Asura Rise; the Ghost Unlimited against the Kryo One and the Asura Lux Rise.
And the Ghost Youth?
The Ghost Youth -11 is a $54.95 one-piece alloy that shares the name and nothing else. It's a good first bat for 8U and 10U rec players with a thin handle for small hands, and it carries every stamp. It is not a Ghost in the composite sense, and no one should expect it to play like one.
Break-in and cold weather
All three composite Ghosts are hot out of the wrapper; Easton builds them with low barrel compression on purpose. Still, keep them out of games below 60°F, never hit dimpled cage balls with them, and don't make one the team bat. The low compression that makes them lively also makes them less tolerant of cold and abuse. Details in how to break in a bat. All three carry Easton's one-year warranty; register it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Easton Ghost Advanced and the Ghost Unlimited?
The Ghost Advanced is a two-piece composite with a connection joint, giving a softer, whippier feel and less sting. The Ghost Unlimited is a one-piece composite with a stiffer, more direct feel and a Double Barrel EXT that's an inch longer. Both are $499.99 and carry the same certifications.
What is the Easton Ghost Unlimited Era Wild One?
A limited-edition graphics version of the Ghost Unlimited, releasing October 22, 2026, in -10 and -11 at $499.99. Construction and performance are the same as the standard Ghost Unlimited: one-piece Sonic Comp Max composite with the Double Barrel EXT and VRS-1 internal connection.
Is the Ghost Unlimited end-loaded?
The -11 and -10 are balanced. The -9 and -8 carry more weight toward the barrel. The extended barrel adds length rather than end-cap weight, so it swings lighter than it looks.
What is the Easton Ghost OG?
The Ghost OG is Easton's return to the original Ghost design: a balanced two-piece composite with Double Barrel construction and the ConneXion+ joint, priced at $449.99. It's approved for USA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and WBSC play but not NCAA.
Which Easton Ghost is legal for college softball?
The standard Ghost Advanced and Ghost Unlimited carry NCAA certification. The Ghost OG and the yellow Spring Break edition of the Ghost Advanced are not approved for college play.
Do Easton Ghost bats need to be broken in?
They're built to be hot out of the wrapper, but like any composite they shouldn't be used below 60 degrees Fahrenheit or against dimpled cage balls.
Is the Ghost Youth the same as the Ghost?
No. The Ghost Youth is a one-piece alloy bat for young rec players, priced around $55. The Ghost Advanced, Unlimited and OG are high-end composite bats.
