Short version: Louisville Slugger has turned the Kryo into a family. The new Kryo One ($449.95) is a stiff one-piece composite with an ultra-balanced swing and a Tuned Mass Damper in the handle. The Kryo2 ($449.95) is the two-piece, with a revised GO-EX+ barrel built for a softer feel and game-ready pop out of the wrapper. The 2026 Kryo ($349.95 on closeout) is the previous two-piece and the value play. All three are balanced, all three share the gapped-wall barrel idea and the XPND end cap, and all three are legal in USA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and WBSC play. If your hitter likes direct feedback and a light swing, Kryo One. If she wants the softer two-piece feel, Kryo2. If she wants a Kryo and you'd rather keep $100, the 2026.

Kryo One: the new one-piece

This is the first one-piece Kryo. No connection joint, so the barrel and handle move as one and you feel exactly where you hit the ball. To keep that from stinging, Slugger put a Tuned Mass Damper in the handle, the same vibration-absorbing component it uses in the Atlas baseball bats. The swing weight is lighter than the Kryo2, which Slugger calls ultra-balanced, and the sweet spot is moved toward the end cap.

Best for: hitters who prefer one-piece feel, slap hitters and contact hitters who want the lightest possible swing, and players stepping up from a one-piece alloy who don't want to relearn the feel of a two-piece. Shop -11, -10, -9, -8.

Kryo2: the two-piece, revised

The Kryo2 is the direct successor to the 2026 Kryo. Same VTX connection, same balanced swing, but a reworked GO-EX+ barrel with new composite and a wider gap between the walls. Slugger's aim was a softer feel and immediate performance, so it plays close to its peak from the first cage session rather than after 200 swings.

One thing to know: the Kryo2 -11 is not approved for NCAA play. The -10, -9 and -8 are. A high school player heading to a college program should buy a -10 or heavier, and the product page will say so.

Best for: most travel ball, high school and college hitters, and anyone who wants the familiar two-piece Kryo feel with the newest barrel. Shop -11, -10, -9, -8.

2026 Kryo: the value play

The 2026 Kryo is the two-piece that started the line, with the GO-EX1 barrel and VTX connection. It's a full $100 less than either 2027 bat on closeout at $349.95. You give up the Kryo2's reworked barrel and faster break-in; you keep the balanced swing, the XPND cap and the same certifications. Shop -11, -10, -8, or the Love the Moment edition in -11 and -10, designed with Autism Speaks, at the same closeout price.

How to choose

  • One-piece or two-piece? This is the real question. If she's never swung a two-piece, or she likes knowing where she hit it, Kryo One. If she's coming from a Kryo, a Ghost Advanced, or any two-piece and liked the feel, Kryo2.
  • Then the drop. Most hitters 12 and up swing a -10. Younger and smaller players take the -11. The -9 and -8 are for strong high school and college hitters. See the drop weight guide.
  • College players: on the Kryo2, -10 or heavier. Check the product page on any model before buying for a college program.
  • Budget: the 2026 Kryo at $349.95 is a lot of bat. Consider it before the 2027s if the newest barrel isn't the point.

Comparing across brands? The Kryo family lines up against Easton's Ghost: Kryo One against the Ghost Unlimited, Kryo2 against the Ghost Advanced. See our Ghost comparison.

Before the first swing

All three are composite. The Kryo2 is built to be game-ready early, but every composite benefits from 150 to 200 hits with real softballs, rotating the barrel each swing, and none of them should be used below 60°F or against cage balls. Details in how to break in a bat.
